Hi there,
I have recently buyed an Windows Vista Laptop with Vista Home Premium and it has IIS 7 included.
I am not sure about Vista Home Basic, weather they have included IIS 7.
Also, the bad part about IIS 7 is it does not include SMTP Server.
SMTP Server Issue
Windows Vista comes preloaded with IIS 7 (I don't know about all the edition but at least Home Premium, which I have) but IIS 7 does not include SMTP Server, so if you want to send a mail through IIS you need to have an third party SMTP Server, or wait till the SMTP Server for IIS 7 is released.
You can download a free SMTP Server at:

( 3 / 5 )Windows Vista has released... but Microsoft's SQL Server is still in beta stage..
If you buy vista, you cannot use MS SQL with it, its still not out in the market.. only beta releases are available but this beta releases are not yet stable.
So, if are using MS SQL than you need to wait to upgrade to vista atleast till 2008.

( 3 / 5 )User Access Control
This is one of the bad thing implemented in Windows Vista.
If you are running any software that worked well in XP, it wont run in Vista. For that you need to be part of Administrative Group.
This thing is know as 'User Access Control' in Vista.
This is causes a lot of problem so it better or recommended to switch it off.
How to switch it off:
Start > Control Panel > (Select the 'Classical View') > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off > off it > Ok > you are done.
